A gay rights tipping point?

26 Nov

The Tampa Bay Times writes an op-ed on what it thinks may be the turning point for gay rights. Nine states, and the District of Columbia, now allow gay marriages. Maine, Maryland and Washington all legalized gay marriage on the ballot this past election. As a result, the paper argues: …it appears the tipping point may have been reached. In addition to voters in three states approving same-sex marriage, Minnesotans voted against a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage. And the first U.S. president in history to declare his support for same-sex marriage while in office — Barack Obama — was decisively re-elected.
